With all that is going on I did not get anything done this week, so I have picked out a few of my favorite models from the past year! Athearn 86' Greenville Boxcar Kit, replaced the cast on grabs with wire grabs, and cast sill steps with A-Line sill steps. Painted the car with Scalecoat II IC Orange and Floquil Platinum Mist paints, and then lettered with Dan Kohlbergs decals. Car was used to haul fiberglass hood panels from a plant in Illinois. While on the IC/ICG kick, here is an Atlas Trainman 3650CF ACF Covered Hopper kit, removed the cast on Roofwalk and the side stiffener. Replaced the Roofwalk with a Plano kit. Painted the car with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Dan Kohlberg's decals. I managed to pickup a Rec Caboose Undecorated Coil Car kit and painted it for the IC railroad, Car was painted with Scalecoat II IC Orange and Black Paints, then lettered with Dan Kohlberg's decals. The funny thing is the IC put the car number on the hoods, I wonder how long they lasted with the same car. The 8th car I have built of this class of cars, have one more in process and another 5 to go after that! Tichy Anderson's quasi covered hopper car, of an Ex-Wabash USRA Panel Side Hopper with car extension and canvas topper to haul grain from Maumee to Toledo. One of three Enterprise Covered Hoppers the NYC transferred to the Canada Southern Railroad, Eastern Car Works kit, painted with Scalecoat II MofW Gray and lettered with Aberdeen Decals. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
Finished these Tuesday. Was waiting for new number boards. These are LL FA-1's with dual Flywheels. (Early LL did not have them). I cut off the molded plastic rails and added .080 brass railings, new # boards and horn. also added MT couplers and Amer. Limited diaphrams. Painted in the SP&S 'Broad Stripe ''scheme and numbered 856 and 859. Lightly weathered.......
I´m building a modular airfield for my modular railroad. Airfield in the front using 1:72 planes - in the back the planes are 1:87 like the railroad stuff. Got 2 German Compass-Swing Platforms - ready buildt - 1:72 scale. Also a new motorized turntable - capable of carrying up to 2 kg - for these ones. Testing with a Brewster Buffalo - okay - it works. Now I have to detail and finish this airfield modules. The ones I used for first trials being to wobbly. The simple wooden platforms I´ve seen on pics taken omn british airfields Still missing pics of those used in the US. Tschüß / bye Harald Brosch
Nothing new for me either so I have gone to the archive for one of my personal favorites. As a young person, I saw these AC-9's leaving El Paso, TX for Tucumcari, N.M. many, many times. Hope you enjoy. I can still hear their hard work pulling up the grade leaving ELP. Not forgettable and that was 70 years ago. Ouch, did I just admit that. Carl
Got a few things done lately First is this Frisco RS1 A great little locomotive. A few details added, and customized it to resemble the Frisco's RS1's. The stack I made from brass tubing I chucked up in a lathe, and used a round tool to flare the top. Next with apologies to my Conrail friends, The QA&P got another 2nd hand locomotive, I got this Genesis SD45-2 weathered, so didnt have to do too much additional weathering. Black lined the Conrail's and patched for the QA&P. Added the sunshades horn they are in primer. The QA&P is still looking at more 2nd hand locos. And this ATSF SD45-2, I patched and re numbered for BNSF, got tired of that, so backdated it to ATSF numbers. Thanks for looking.
Okay, posted this in the Christmas Train thread, but since I took the pic this weekend, it works for here, also! On30 Christmas Train by Doorgunnerjgs posted Dec 17, 2016 at 4:01 PM
