Out on the road to Kansas City, MO, no time or wheels for railfanning, so a cheesy interstate photo grab of KC Union Station will have to do.
The soggy Rosenberg yard from January 2012. A Kansas City Southern train waiting for a UP train to clear before pulling out of the old Macaroni line onto the Sunset Route to head to Houston.
Huron and Eastern tied up a rather interesting mix of power in Marlette for a few hours the other day. GP38-2 3509 came to the HESR from HCLX leasing some time in the 2020's. According to rrpicurearchives.net, this unit was originally MoPac 2111, then U.P. 2111, eventually becoming U.P. 611. I'm not sure about this. Either they are mistaken, or this unit was built without dynamic brakes and acquired them sometime between UP and HCLX ownership. GP40-2LW 3036, ex CMGN and HESR 9712 is an old friend so to speak, having been assigned to switching duties at the Marlette elevator for several weeks on end in the 2000's. Partially hidden behind the tank car (rightly so, some might argue) is the ever scruffier looking GP38-2 2028, also an ex Central Michigan unit.
From June 1982 at Hudson Yard in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The 7322 is a GP-38-2, former LV 322. The 7613 is a GP-38-2 built for the D&H.
The 7016 is being operated by an employee of Bayou Midstream, supplying oil field services. It looked a little slow on last Sunday, just outside of Fairview, MT, I have seen this yard chuck full!
Today was another successful Ride the Rails for Cancer, sponsored by the Conrail Historical Society on the Middletown and Hummelstown.
