How in the world is it already November?!? Anywho, Here's the first commercially successful locomotive in the US, the John Bull, as seen in the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington DC. An iron bridge is also preserved, as opponents of the railroad would often burn the bridges (then made of wood). A BNSF SD70ACe leads a 1x1 CP J92 grain load east into Minot on the CPKC Portal Sub at sunset:
The Angelina & Neches River Railroad is a shortline in northeast Texas. An SP freight can be seen in the background about to pass under Highway 6. 1995 in Hearne, Texas.
@HemiAdda2d Great photos! Can't wait to see the 'John Bull' in person. I live about 90 minutes from there via Metro. Thanks! I'm still looking for a nearby freight area but, sigh, all we have are 6~10 lane highways.
From May 1981 at Franklin, VA, former SAL GP-7 SCL 954 takes a rest with former VGN caboose 530302. The caboose survives today on display at Pocahontas, VA. NF&D (N&W-owned) and SCL jointly switched Franklin, hence the mix of equipment. I shot Franklin's former SAL station the same day, train order signal and all. The station survives, but its center section now sports a raised center tower, maybe to restore it as it once was? I'm not sure.
Nothing special from me this week, just a shot of GNRR 2000 sitting in the yard at Elizabeth GA. on Sunday 10/29/2023
Caught a rare V train on the Sidney branch yesterday, which had this in the train, and the rain on the snow!
