[IMG] Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge *SPECIAL EDITION* Ends Monday, April 19th.

**This weekend we have an experimental format for our challenge! Please read all rules as they ARE different from previous weeks!**
If you notice a typo, error, or confusing statement, please notify user Mark Watson immediately for correction and clarification.

For this special edition of the Weekend Modeling Photo Challenge each member is tasked to create up to 4 images that together tell a story of railroading. The story can be as simple or complex as necessary and you may include a single sentence or a few paragraphs to explain the story, but each story will be judged by the images and the way they link together.

Please post all content in a SINGLE post.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions (I'm sure there will be a few), and most importantly, HAVE FUN! :D :D

Modeling Photo Challenge Topic: "A Story of Railroading"
    1. Challenges are open to everyone, have fun!!

    2. The entry deadline is Midnight (UTC -11), Monday, April 19th. Late entries will be accepted up until the official "Time's up!" post within the thread.

    3. For photos to be eligible they must be taken between Friday April 16th and Monday, April 19th
Please use the challenge as a motive to take a new photographs!

    4. Any posts with images taken before the commencement of the challenge will not be included in the poll and may be moved to the cutting room floor thread.
    - Ensure dates and times on your camera are correct. -

    5. **Up to 4 images per participant so please choose the images carefully.

    6. Though realism is popular among voters, it is not required. Any image or snap shot related to the topic is acceptable!

    7. Though not required, commenting on other peoples pictures is encouraged.

    8. Please use the Cutting Room Floor thread for related but ineligible images.

    9. A cleaver and distinctive title for your image helps identify it among voters. (And makes it easier for me when posting the poll ;) )

    10. *NEW* Photo editing and enhancing is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged, however the subject and focal point must remain that of a physical model.

On April 20th, all entries will be put up for a public vote, in which all members of TrainBoard may vote for their favorite entry(s), regardless of whether you submitted an entry or not. Voting will last 4 days. You may vote for multiple entries. To do this, you must select all entries for which you wish to vote at once, and then click the submit button.

If your having trouble thinking of a story idea, a simple 4 photo roll-by will work. :)

A simple story that is executed perfectly is often better than a complex story executed poorly. ;)

I have one, Mark. PRR TOFC merchandise service.

A trailer is loaded at Lakeside Shipping.

The trailer is then loaded on to a TOFC flat car.

The flat car is switched into an East Bound fast freight.

It's now on it's way to a customer in Baltimore, Md.

Switching on the Nashville and Eastern

Here is my entry guys and BTW this contest was alot of fun Mark.

The Nashville and Eastern is delivering a freight car of goods to Performance Food Group and has temporarily blocked Chestnut Street and has also made some folks mad.

While still blocking the street the conductor gets out and throws the switch to the PFG spur.

After the switch is thrown the N&E proceeds down the spur passing McEwen storage.

Finally the boxcar is spotted as the conductor verifies it is in the proper spot as to line up with the dock doors at PFG.

Another successful day switching on the Nashville and Eastern.

    Crandell,
We'll miss ya this week. It is your photo of the turn table accident last time that is behind the idea of this weeks format. :) I already think its safe to say we'll definitely do more like this later on.

    DJ, Thomas, Russell,
PERFECT! I dont know about you guys, but I LOVE this format. Dont get me wrong, I love the single photo challenge too, but this just adds so much interest! :D Russell, my idea was also having some rocks fall onto the track!! Now what shall I do. :p

    Jim,
I was almost positive this new challenge would bring you out of photo hibernation! :p
I dont know about everyone else, but I'm having some CCRR withdrawal.

I'm looking forward to more great entries!

    Jim,
Did you intend to enter your photo in the challenge or just post it to share?
I just need to know whether to include it or not in the poll come Tuesday. ;)

OK, I was going to 'shop in some better backgrounds (instead of my dining room walls & furniture), but it's just not in me tonight... anyway, for fun:

"FRLW Wreck Train to the Rescue!"

This is a follow up to the derailment of the WM 761 during the nScale.net Traveling Car's visit to the Chestnut Hill & Frost River Railroad. Video footage of the derailment was captured by a nearby railfan who had been hoping to capture the car as it passed. News coverage of the accident is also available courtesy the Frost River Daily Mail.

(Note: video and news are for reference, not part of the contest entry).

Well, it seems another "foamer" happened to be circling the wreck site in an ultralight while the recovery operations were underway. Here are a few of the photos he captured.

Aerial shot of the derailed locomotive awaiting rescue:

The Frost River Locomotive Works wreck crew had to borrow a crane from the UP, as the only crane they had big enough to lift a 2-8-0 was itself under repair. Here they are maneuvering the crane into position:

Here, the crane is just setting the loco back on the tracks:

And finally, the rerailed locomotive proceeds under a slow order back to the yard.

    TwinDad,
Great story. I'd be terrified if that loco decided to jump the points to the left side!

    sandro,
Short and to the point! Great example of how one image can tell just as good a story as 4. :)

If you listen closely to the audio you can hear my reaction. Not my finest moment, language-wise... :embarassed:

That side of the layout is normally up against the backdrop, but not that day...
