I am in Oklahoma City this weekend for their annual train show. Here is a photo that I took earlier at home. A Bachmann Consolidation that was given some SP makeup.

Good morning from partly sunny and cool Northeast Ohio!

Here is what I managed to complete this week.

First up an Atlas FMC 5077CF Double Door Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red, Silver and Black Paints then lettered with Herald King Decals. The WP purchased these cars to replace the worn out PS1 boxcars used in the lumber trade.

Next, the PC's Sam Rea shops built slightly larger clones of the GATC 4500CF Covered Hoppers resulting in these 4600CF Covered Hoppers in the H51, H51a, H51b and H51c classes. They were used in grain loading traffic and the different classes resulted from the outlet gates used on each class. Car is a Tangent Kit, painted with Scalecoat II UP Covered Hopper Gray paint and lettered with Champ Decals.

I also did a quick build of a Bowser H21a hopper car and dull coated it to remove the shine of the factory paint job.

Soon the H51 Covered Hoppers will soon be infiltrating the solid train of PS4785 Covered Hoppers pulled by a pair of SD45's on the Strongsville Club Layout.

    Have a great weekend!

Here's a couple of pictures of a recent project, something that for me was quite a stretch. This is a Bachmann USRA 0-6-0, their basic train set locomotive. The mechanism runs pretty well so I thought it would make a good project for detailing. I found the first thing needed was metal wheelsets in the tender trucks, with wipers for electrical pickup. The pilot was reworked to add a working coupler. The boiler details were sliced, filed, or otherwise removed and were replaced with Cal-Scale castings and bits of wire of various sizes. I put bulbs in the new front headlight light and original tender light. A decoder is in the tender, but no sound - there's very little room left over. This took a long time - I have new respect for those of you who enhance or scratchbuild steam locomotives to match a prototype!

Fruits of the hunt, RS3 double shot from today's hobby show in Laval!

Taking advantage of a sunny day, photos of the two locos I scored.

I already have three RS3 locos in green and yellow CN colors, so this will make five - all Atlas with Kato mechanicals that run like Swiss watches.:)

A couple of freight car kits, a couple of books (one on American steam from 1902 to 1950, published 1950, and a CN operating manual for an SD70M-2) and a CN system map from 2010 round out the booty.

A very happy, even if belated, birthday boy...

An MR&T MP15DC waits for a farmer to transfer some grain into his trailer, before he takes his short train of a hopper, MR&T boxcar, and MR&T caboose #70 back to Roper yard.
This train is manufactured by Atlas (the locomotive) Accurail (the hopper and boxcar) and Athearn (the caboose). The truck is a Norscot Peterbilt with a Tonkin grain trailer.

Official portrait for my photo database, with an addition to it - the nose bell :) :
    CN3009bell.JPG

I have a very close color match to CN's yellow as used on Atlas RS-3 locos: Liquitex paint markers in Bronze Yellow. Good coverage and easy to apply. The difference between the bell and the loco's upper nose color is barely visible!

I ran both of my new RS-3 engines for about two hours yesterday afternoon. Smooth as silk!(y)

@Tompm - I don't know if I like the Alco's or the TOFCs more, but I like them all.

Tom, the only problem being that the Reading tended to run one 6 axle high horsepower unit (SD45, U30C, C630) with a 4 axle mid horsepower unit (GP30, GP35, C424).
