West end of my Richmond, Texas NTRAK modules. The Blue and Yellow lines are in the foreground sweeping around to resume the standard NTRAK spacing. Since I took this photo years ago, I have added more buildings to this scene. This is looking back from the other direction now. The SP depot in the foreground is new as well as the Santa Fe depot further back. The big house with all the porches is new as well.
Here is this week's completed models! First Up, a Tangent PS1 40' Combo Door Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II #2 Boxcar Red paint and lettered with Mask Island decals. These type of cars were used for lumber loading with the wide door opening and could be used in grain service due to the plug door. Next a Walthers 89' Flat car kit painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Red paint and lettered with various Herald King sets. The DT&I acquired these cars in the late 70's from returned cars of the Providence and Waorchester, the DT&I left most of all the original lettering but painted over the reporting marks and the herald and added their reporting marks. These cars usually ran on the Rail Blazer from Detroit to Cincinnati. I added a couple of trailers I had painted earlier. Last week we had an op session on the Strongsville Club layout, here are my models of a GP35 and C-424 along with a caboose ready to be called out for a train. Have a great weekend! Rick Jesionowski
@r_i_straw, first pic looks real. @dti406, the boxcar is making me drool. Signals look real also. Railfan pic of street crossing at gas station. Mr. Wiggin said he was going to post late. I may log back on later in the meantime, here is the latest project. It's good to have "The Old Reliable" on the property. Looks like the "smudger" has been at work though. Laser cut sides, door, and ladders. New style side frames on the trucks. More boxcars coming.
Since this past week Central Texas had its first snow of the year, I thought I would share a picture from my Winter module.
Wow, and to think your L&N model is, what, maybe 1-1/4" long? That's amazing work and it looks great. I lived in Knoxville in the late 1970s, so have a soft spot in my heart for the L&N. I shot this photo back then.
Just got a correctish cupola for the Tintic Local caboose. I'll need to give it a coat of paint and some glazing, but without the toolbox it looks more like something that came out of the Burnham Shops than it did as a Grande painted Santa Fe hack.
