It's Christmas Eve here in Sydney so thought I's open up this weeks WFF. Yesterday I finished a Ev MoPac caboose, here are a couple of photographs. Here is a shot of all my MoPac cabeese on a transfer run.
SNFF 2005 12 25 Hi, all, Happy Holidays to everyone, where ever you are. I hope your Holiday is joyful and peaceful. For my contribution this week, is a tribute to our fellow member Tompm, whose Train Roll-By shots are consistent, colorful, talented submission to Sunday Night Foto Fun. I tried his technique just for fun, and boy, does Tom's technique really work nicely. So, I asked Tom, and he was kind enough to grant permission for me to post the following shots using his composition idea. Here's three newly weathered N scale Santa Fe GP7s and GP9s doing a rollby: Tom's got more info on his modeling at his web site: http://www.trainweb.org/tompm I enjoyed visiting his web site, and I learned more about how Tom's weekly Train Roll-by shots have came to be: http://www.trainweb.org/tompm/watertower/watertower1.html Check it out! Thx again, Tom (smile). Have a good week, all. Happy Holidays to everyone. ========== (If you're a rivet counter, pls ignore the fact that the Santa Fe Geeps are leading my 'Chessie train' tribute to my wife's support of my hobby!) ========== [ December 23, 2005, 03:53 PM: Message edited by: atsf_arizona ]
Here a real rarity for me, a proto shot. These are from some summer vacation pics that finally got developed (boy am I sold on digital sheeesh ). These are a pair of GP20 and a patched out GP38.
Paul Great start to the weekend with all those great looking cabooses! John Sing Great looking train and locomotives! And a big thank you for the kind words and compliments. I am flattered and somewhat speechless. As I said to John in an email, I am a rail fan at heart. It is just now instead of photographing the real thing I am doing HO size stuff. The whole thing sort of started by accident when I was trying to photograph some cars to compare a few things. When I was looking at them I thought, hey, that looks like the photos I used to take of real trains. I got to wondering and then experimenting. The next I knew I needed a setting for the photos and since I knew the “final” layout is a ways off and after discussing it with a few friends the Water Tower Diorama was born. This lead to the Passenger Station Diorama, then to the Grain Elevator Diorama, and to the Farm House Diorama (under construction). Maybe someday they all get linked on the layout. In truth it is all my parents fault. I spent the first 25 years of my life living with 500 feet of the B&O Philadelphia Subdivision. When I was a wee one my mom set up a chair at the kitchen window for me so I could watch the trains roll by and I have been doing it ever since. BTW, the website is a work in progress. The section on the Water Tower Diorama is only about half done. I have been working on the roster section over the last few months. Russell Interesting shot! John Breen Great proto shots! Flash Looking forward to your roll-by! Now I need to come up with something and the time to do it.

Hey, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays everyone. Heres some of my presents.Mr.Lupia met me with his newest creations.I had to wait up to a year & a half for a couple. It was worth the wait.Check these babies out.
Great looking fleet of Cabooses Paul!!! Beautiful weathering John!!! Excellent looking line-up Mike!!! Love the way those BW photos look Bob....going to have to try that sometime!!! Looks like a prototypical photo Russell!!!
Here's where I am at with the GP35 fleet. First two have been renumbered, and I am waiting on detail parts. Last two are almost complete....one just needs a beacon, and they both will get a light weathering job.
2900 will get the snow shields and exhaust lifters. 3412 will get the same detailing as the 3305 and 3307.
3307 is the most complete. 3305 will get the beacon, and I did the window trim different on this one, and the other two. Already have the wipers on 3307 or I would do it the same on the trim.
Just kidding! I am going to decal them like the 3305/3307 was done. I may give the 2900 the more modern numbers. Have to look at some photos. The one I have, the 2900 is facing away from me.....I took it when I was in 11th grade!
2900 seems to have an extended Cabroof, as does the unit that is furthest to the right...I have no Idea what that is on that toaster box though, I only know Soup boilers and even then they are all the same too I think this is the best I can muster up this week...the Inside of my new repair shop. That's the end for now...doors shut!
Benny, that extended cab roof is the snow shield. It was suppost to help keep snow out of the front air intake. Due to maintenence headaches because of these, they were later removed, but in the 80's, you could find alot of units sporting these including GP30's, SD40's,and SD45's.
