Watco shuffles management staff at several short lines

The Watco Cos. Inc. recently appointed general managers for five of its short lines and named other key operating personnel.

The company named Kevin Jeter GM of the Louisiana Southern Railroad (LAS); Troy Forbis, GM of the Timber Rock Railroad (TIBR); and Linn Herman, GM of the Vicksburg Southern, Mississippi Southern and Baton Rouge Southern railroads.

Jeter joined Watco in 2007 as trainmaster for the Alabama Southern Railroad. He previously was a conductor and engineer for the San Joaquin Valley and New England Central railroads.

Forbis most recently was operations manager for McCloud Railway Co. He previously served the railway as a track department laborer, track inspector, track welder, track foreman and conductor/engineer. Forbis also served a stint as an engineer and trainmaster for the San Joaquin Valley Railroad.

Herman previously was GM of the Blue Mountain Railroad; operations manager, trainmaster and GM of the South Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad; GM of the Alabama Southern Railroad; and director of railcar repair for the Vicksburg Southern and Mississippi Southern railroads.

Meanwhile, Watco also named Michael Moore trainmaster and Ed Riley, chief mechanical officer, for LAS.

Moore has served as trainmaster and engineer for TIBR since 2000. Riley previously served OmniTRAX Inc., stationed at BNSF Railway Co.’s South Yard, and spent 25 years at Kansas City Southern Railway Co. in various capacities.
