[IMG][IMG][IMG] First day caught it parked outside of Rosalia, then on the way north of Colfax. GP30, followed by a patched UP unit. Cars are "stored" on an elevator siding.

Do you happen to catch the number on that second unit?

Maybe. More photos to come. Last we saw they were headed north, light, approaching Spangle, and got some shots. Dave

    Very interresting.

    2 questions however:

-Is the GP30 a "true" one? Ie not a rebuilt unit that became a GP39-2 or even a GP38-2 for the circumstance?

-And does the former UP Dash 8 fully belong to that shortline, or is it a leasing company's locomotive? (Can't see any reporting marks on its side)

It may actually still be a GP30.

Can't quite read the number on that ex-UP unit. Looks like it was applied using a rattle can.

I thought so too, or gaffers tape in reddish.
I did try whilst driving to discern the number at the time, and was highly unsuccessful.
