FYI- I have seen while trolling the yards there are green UP dump cars, plus there are several in CNW i think it used to be grey but now... mostly just a rust color.... these cars are definately not in good shape so if you do get them make sure when you weather them they look very very beat up
Doh! I totally spaced this... I'll see what I can do this weekend. Tomorrow is supposed hit near 100, so to the basement I'm hibernating!
And the Hay Brothers loads for these are in stock now as well. They will require a quick re-stock order as fast as they are selling.
I apologize, folks, I had great intention to get shots of these, but I finished painting the mainline yesterday instead....
I will wait for Hemi, but I could post a shot for you if you like. I have 10 DMIR difcos on display right now.
A little something to keep you going............... http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/511/Walthers_Dump_UP_Side-2.jpg http://www.trainboard.com/railimages/data/511/Walthers_Dump_UP_3quarters-2.jpg
This is a newer car, I believe, and is like the Walthers model. It is longer than the SP cars, for sure. Here is a picture of the prototype SP car; the UP cars are like this, too. Here is a picture of the Walthers model that is longer and is like the DRGW car pictured above. I haven't checked the dimensional data yet. More on that later. Is this correct? BTW, I just received two of the Walthers models. They are excellent cars, IMHO.
These are great cars. I like my BNSF cars but I noticed that the ads don't list the BNSF cars now. Doug, are those the Hay Bros loads or something else. They look really good!
Great to see Walthers making some quality rolling stock! The last stuff I tried from them (late 1990s production) ended up on Ebay ...
The Walthers cars are 1350 cubic foot capacity. The SP cars are the smaller 810 cubic feet capacity. There are definitely two different types of cars in use today; the Walthers model is the larger of the two.
The loads are loose Woodland Scenics tallus rock. I haven't seen the HB loads in person, but from the photos they don't have a true rip-rap load. I think some landscape gravel would also be good, and heavier, but I sure am happy with how the WS looks in lieu of other options.
