I've found some used kits, 12 cars worth, unassembled. I am having a hard time finding what these passenger cars look like to find the era. I assume they are the old heavy weights, but not sure. Since I am building my own line I'd happily decorate them to my design. They all start with the number 633- and then 6620 through 6680. The boxes are dirty but the contents seem ok (in the picture). They need trucks and couplers. Some references show metal sides and wood floors and plastic roofs, but it's not clear that's the case for all of them.
This would be a big project but the asking price is about 8 bucks each. This is not an urgent need for me but fits my long term plan. Any idea of what these look like put together?

found my answer by finding single items that have better descriptions
    these are heavy weights

some may have plastic roof, some wood moulded to shape
I assume this is all steam era.
a nice way to get a dozen cars, unsure whether to bite. The trucks and couplers will add another $15 per car or more.
Found some older editions that had heavy metal trucks included, not sure they are of equal quality

The older kits are decent for their time produced.

The plastic will most likely have better detail.

Just depends on how much you want to spend.

A lot of heavy weight cars were rebuilt into OCS cars and lasted some even to this day.

my research also shows tons of used nearly RTR passenger sets for the same kind of money
I'm learning how this works and appreciate all the info on the many threads

How interested are you in prototypical accuracy? Some of the older, and usually cheaper, cars are shorter than they should be, so they can go around 18” radius curves. Athearn heavyweight and streamlined cars are like that. If that is not an issue, they are actually decent cars. The newer run cars have good paint schemes.
