First time user I have a MRC Tech 3,model 9500 power pack and would like to know if there is a walkaround throttle that is available. If there is,would it also have a "memory"?I have heard of one made by Dallee.Any info on this would be appreciated. Gil
Take a look at www.dallee.com. I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about Dallee, so they must be pretty good. I'm a DCC guy so I can't comment on their walkaround throttle, other than you'll love walkaround and wonder how you model railroaded without it. Drew
You might want to also consider a radio controlled throttle like this one Santa is bringing me a unit for Christmas. I'll let you know how is goes once installed. I m using it on a conventional cab control layout You can visit the site here Remote Control system
You might also try the walkaround throttles from GML. Their phone number is 248-628-4445, and his e-mail address is genelewis@sprintmail.com. I've got one of his walkaround throttles, and I've also used one of his tethered throttle. I've been quite happy with both. When I ordered the walkaround some eight or nine years ago, he built it with a guitar-style drop-down plug, at my request, at a small extra charge. I can certainly recommend this company! Pat
We have one conventional throttle at our club, where it is possible to isolate one track to straight DC. We have an MRC Trainmaster or Control Master 20. It is a nice walk around unit with plenty of power. We can easily have around 5 locos running on the conventional track with no problems. The throttle uses phone jacks and is tethered to a 15 ft cord. BTW the mainline is over 550 feet in length.
