As there is no specific gauge 1 section on Trainboard I am opening up this topic in the Inspection Pit and hope that this is ok.

Last Saturday I had the chance of inspecting (albeit only from the outside of the glass case containing the loco) a Wada Works GP9 in UP livery.

For anyone not familiar with these models, they are working (yes working!) diesel electrics in gauge 1. At the moment they produce the GP9 and a Burlington Zephyr multiple unit.

Has anyone ever seen one of these models operating and do they actually work well or are they just an expensive curiosity?

Leaving aside performance, the detail on the model was amazing and the thought of one of these hauling a long train of American freight stock on one of the many longish outdoor g1 lines in the UK excited me greatly.

I would be very interested to hear anything anyone knows about these models either from direct experience or hearsay.

I have a customer who has one, but I don't think he has run it yet!

It has a very sophisticated radio control system - so complicated that he cannot work it [IMG]

If you run into Roy Scott, ask him about them, I believe he has sold some. He sometimes comes to G3 meets.
