Within an hour or so of our arrival in Bled, we were taken into the mountains by Misko, as he had to photograph some locations for a toothpast commercial, and knew just the streams.........;)

After our friend chased up the last two tickets for our trip on a steam train run, early next morning we were at Bled Jesero station awaiting it's arrival. First a Diesel Unit arrived from Jesenice.

Several others had come to join the train, or just watch.

The locomotive was a 'Kreigslok' 2-10-0. Approximately 7,000 of these were built during WW2 and after. There are many examples around europe still in use.

We secured ourselves some seats in a 4-wheeled coach with wooden seats - which were extremely comfortable! [IMG]

This is the way to ride a train - an open balcony!

    Especially with a cold beer!

This engineers rail car was our support for the trip - it followed us all the way!

We left the train at Kanal and headed into the mountains by coach to visit a wineyard and have lunch. This is the world's largest stone arch bridge, veiewed from the coach, we will travel over it on the return.

At the wine establishment, Irene chose 'her' barrel. :D

The very impressive station. Nova Gorice is quite a large town.

Whilst we were there a pair of Italian diesels arrived with a freight from just over the border.

    A 'Reagan' also waits alongside.

And one of the railcars used on this route waits in a siding.

Passing a diesel on the auto train. This train carries cars through a long tunnel, which saves motorists a long tortuous journy through the mountains.
