Greetings, I do not post often but I ran across a group of photos on the Vintage Seattle web site, the subject pretains to an outing of a womens group that the poster believes is Hyak. The photos are personal snapshots, but the photographer inadvertantly captured some details that interested me and may also you good folks. Brekke is a Milwaukee Road name. As I recall, a substation operator and family. There was and still is an abandoned railroad grade across the former Hyak ski area slopes. It was the pre-Snoqualmie Tunnel "High Line" route between Rockdale and (old) Keechelus. I was on part of it once again last summer. It goes right through where the ski jump footings can still be found. A T-bar and one of the chairs at Hyak used to terminate on that r-o-w! Back when I was still healthy enough to ski... Boxcab E50
I am in contact with someone who knew of the Brekke family as Milwaukee Road employees. Will see what they say. Boxcab E50
