Used Atlas U25B DCC won’t run

I just got a used Atlas U25B with DCC, sellers notes were that it runs well on DCC. I put it on my track and the light comes on but no movement. When I program on main to set the addresses both times the locomotive gave a little “erp” but no motion. Lights don’t change direction with direction button.

I’m guessing it’s a config issue but it’s all new to me. Any help appreciated!!

Ok it runs... if I go up to speed 16 of 28 it moves out. But only if I select the 2-digit address. No response to the 4-digit one.

So no real slow speed, which leads me to think there’s a config issue still to be solved.

Check CV8 for the manufacturer and from that you can find out the reset code for the decoder. Then you can program it up however you want.

Ok thanks. I reset the decoder and now it starts to move at 10 out of 28. Better. I know this is an older version so that may just be what it does.

Here are a couple of pictures of the box. [IMG]

Does anyone have a similar model? If so, how is the low-speed performance? What are the motor values set at?

I got a good deal, just trying to tweak it as best I can.

If it has been sitting a long time it may take some time to warm up and loosen up.

Problem solved. After some more research I adjusted motor start value until I settled on a value of 68. Anything lower and it won’t start reliably on step 1 of 128. At that value it will run slowly, though not as slowly as the new Atlas Gold model. Still decent though!

Hope this might help anyone else with a similar issue.

Is there a way to edit the thread title to mark it "SOLVED" ?
