    Anyone know some history of the St.Joseph & Grand Island Railway? And when it disappeared into the UP?

    ST. JOSEPH & GRAND ISLAND RR (SJGI)
    ===================================
    Historical Note:
    Incorporated in 1897 to operate between St Joseph, MO.
    and Grand Island, NE. it was its own entity until
    February of 1923 when it became part of the UP owned
    St, Joseph & Grand Island Railway, and the UP itself
    in 1936. Referred to for many years as simply the
    "St. Joseph Branch", it remains part of the Union Pacific
    System.

    1936. OK. That would seem quite logical. UP absorbed operations of several companies that year. Although the corporate shells continued to exist.

    Thanks!
