I just came back from the "Big-E" Springfield Mass. train show. While I was there I had a long talk with Marty McGuirk about the new FT.Boy is this going to be a nice engine!! The detailing on it is incredible. There will be individual grab irons, windshield wipers and etched metal fan and side grills. These will be blackened for the roof fans. Also this engine will be decoder ready. This will be as simple as removing 2 screws pulling out the light board and putting in the decoder. For those of you that have done this on ER Models Sharks you will find this to be the same. I asked him what kind of couplers it was going to have and this it what he said. "Atlas" accumates. Now for some real interesting news is that the coupler pocket is designed to accept a MT coupler as well, for those die hards that want MT.There is no modifying, filing, shimming or swearing for this conversion.

    Sounds good

Marty hinted there would be a second new locomotive later this year but gave no details.

It makes me wonder, here they are going top of the line on everthing, but the coupler. A permission problem maybe?
I'll still need to check them out since I'm a transition modeler.

Is this is complete "ready-to-run" locomotive with frame and power, or just a body casting? If a complete assembly, did you hear whose frame and power assembly are being used?
