Taken yesterday on the Metrolink Valley Sub (former SP Saugus Line)....rare daylight freight movement westbound, on the mostly commuter line. Mostly freight trains run at night when the Metrolink trains have stopped running.

That explains why we didn't see a single freight when we drove along that route a few years ago!

Yes Alan, even when the ol' Espee owned it, they didn't really use it to it's fullest extent...instead they went up Cajon then over the Palmdale Cut-off to access Tehachapi from LA...I think the UP gets an average of about 6 freight trains in a 24hr period up and down the line...mostly after 10pm at nite.

Classic scene. This is one shot that could grace any wall.

Mike, you are going to have to come up with a new signature line. That "armchair" line no longer fits. You sure have been out and about lately. Thanks for making me homesick for that "lovely" place in SoCal. :(
