I don't know why, but this C44 was parked right beside the Hamlet station on my last visit: I have never seen ANYTHING on this track in the many years I have been railfanning here. Harold

They parked it there, because they knew you were coming with your camera, Harold Excellent details for modellers, and great photos to boot!

that siding is almost as bad as the siding up near my house (the one with the 130 car coal train pulling in to it) nice pictures, harold. I would guess that 7793 experienced an electrical, or mechanial problem and CSX had no place to put it. In a way, I love that track work

I doubt it had mechanical failure, since they could have easily gotten it back to the yard, only ~ a mile away. It does puzzle me because I have never seen a loco there before.... and from the looks of that trackwork, they might want to reconsider parking there Harold
Great shots Harold! I really like the "in yer face" shot. It is rather interesting that they chose to park the loco on that track. Of course, to us railfans, many things that are done that appear to make no sense to us BTW Chessie...it looks like that loco is back in Hamlet as of yesterday.
