    Hello,
My current layout is Atlas N-18 Gulf Summit and I use all Atlas sectional tracks to build it. Now I am going to expand this by putting antoher 4x8 table next it. I am getting tired of all derailment I have it with Atlas tracks and turnout. I heard a lot of good stuff about Kato Unitracks that it does not derail and I would like to try it on my new expansion.
I do not know anything about Unitracks and what to orderd. Beside tracks and turnouts do I need to orders feeders and how would it be used? Where do you put the turnout switches?
So, please shed some light on this subject for me.
    Thanks.
    Mo

    Hi Mo,

Unitrack is very easy to use. Check out the Kato Unitrack Group here on the board for a lot of detailed information, as well as the KatoUSA.com website. It fits together nicely, but you still have to make sure everything is put together properly to avoid derailments (and of course, don't knock the trains over with your sleeve; or have a kitten jump onto the layout).

Kato does sell feeder tracks, where there is built in pluggable feeders. They also sell feeder unijoiners (basically unijoiner sets with feeder wires presoldered). These are great for getting started, but many folks, when making their layout permanent, go ahead and solder feeders directly to the track to ensure nothing works loose later on.

The turnouts have switch machines built in! They have plugs which can attach to the Kato switch controllers (which are really just fancy momentary DPDT switches), or they can also be connected to a DCC stationairy controller.
