I just installed my first sound decoder.. and am trying to play with sounds.

I have the NCE Powercab, which has numerics 0-9, so the manual claims you can type in functions > 9, but they just won't show on the display.

When I try Option - 10, or Option - 11, for example, it only picks up the 1, and thinks I'm turning the bell on..

So, powercab users.. how do you toggle functions on/off that are greater than 9??? I found nothing of detail in the manual..

BTW.. a sound decoder.. SO d@mn cool :) Looks like I have something so spend more money on ;)

Hi there. I, too, own a PowerCab... What you want is easy to get ONCE you know what to do. You just need to reprogram the OPTION key to use "Extended Function Control" because someone somehow figured out the key is best used by default as a brake button.:tb-ooh:

You do that with the Cab Setup mode, which is detailed on page 18 and 19 on your PowerCab manual.

    Follow this:
    1) unplug the PowerCab. 2) Hold down "SELECT LOCO" button while plugging in the PowerCab. 3) Hit "ENTER" 4 times in a row (you must, then, see "PROG KEY OPTION" on the top line of the display. 4) input "122" then hit ENTER 33 (yes, thirty three!) times in a row. 5) This is it. The PowerCab is restarting itself and you are ready to use all the decoder functions you have.

Hit OPTION once to control function from F10 to F19,
hit OPTION twice to control function from F20 to F28.
then hit the last digit of the function you want.

I.E., you get function 18 by doing: OPTION 8, function 22 with OPTION OPTION 2

You can visualize your active functions with the "EXPN" key. Top row is F10 through F19, bottom row is F20 through F28.

    This should fix you up.
