Okay, after further research, I have decided that what I really need to know is how to build a cotton-pickin' turntable, as well as how to index one. I plan to operate it manually, and don't need a really big one, but I'd really like the challenge of scratchbuilding it. Info needed: physical construction, wiring, gearing, etc. Anyone?
A couple of articles come to mind. I think Jim Kelly scratchbuilt one and wrote a good article on it in MR several years ago. I was pretty complex but looks great in the pictures. Apparently it took him a goodly amount of time and was done in HO, but the basic plans are solid. Second article I believe was by Bob Hayden and involved the use of a stereo headphone jack as the pivot. It was much simpler. I'll look through my old issues and try to get you dates.
actually , jim kellys article was on the san berdoo turntable (sf amercian bridge co) and roundhouse , i think it was about 1992/1993 and it was modeled in N scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
