    OK here we go,
this is the start of the Tunnel City section of my Milwaukee Road layout. It is a 2' by 3' section almost like a diarama. It is made of 1" by 4"s on 1' centers, the extra grid is for a wall bracket that still has to be installed.
On the left side there will be a half wall to hide my electrical box, on the right a full wall down to the floor to make a veiw block and so I can butt a cabinet up to it on the outside.

My own version is probably going to be reduced to only slightly more than the east portal. The crew helping me with my layout will be over on the 11th to get started on the helix behind the portal.

    Sean,
Mine will be only the east entrance also. When the train goes through the tunnel it ends up back in the Portage Yard.If you look close at the pic to the left of the track is another opening which one day will by pass Portage and go on to La Crosse.
If you go back a few weeks in this section I have a post on my Portage Yard.

well Andy, i thought i had it figured out from the first pic. now i see how you are doing it, your coming out straight. you were right, it will pretty much just be the tunnel. plans for anything else on this section? with your compression skills, should be GREAT!(like your Portage yard) cant wait to see how it turns out. -Deano

    Hey Deano,
Accually the track comes through the wall at a 45 degree angle. It will cut across the far corner by the elec. box. If you look at the pic, the table with the paper bag on it will be moved and the layout will continue down that wall for about 13',I just had to make a jog to miss the elec. box. by the way the next section down that wall will be the sevice yard in Tomah. But I have to finish this section first!!

I could send one through from the other side but it wouldn't be a pretty picture!!! :(

OH, thanks for welcoming Deano, I found him wandering around on the net and steered him this way. He is a great guy, and modeler. If you twist his arm he might post some of his stuff!

first off, THANKS for the welcome BoxcabE50!!, Andy was the one that gave me the "heads up" on this forum. Andy, thank you for the kind words. OK, now....Andy, you mentioned right after Tunnel city the rails will go on to the Tomah service yard. how big will that be? will Tomah take up the whole 13' span that will be after Tunnel city? just curious. thanks, -Deano

Your signature says "Beloit." So there must be a Fairbanks-Morse on your roster somewhere?
