Probably my favourite locomotive of all time is the Nickel Plate Road 2-8-2 #587 because it was the first operating steam locomotive that I ever saw. I received an Athearn Genesis USRA Mikado as a high school graduation present eight years ago. I painted and lettered it for #587 and did some basic (but poor) details for it. Over the years it's gotten kind of banged around here and there, and I've decided to do a little repair job and replacement of some of the crummy details I did, and post some pics of the work in progress. I actually happened to be working on it during my dialysis treatment when I took the pics (I have kidney failure and I do home dialysis six times a week to filter my blood). It (the locomotive) is still not going to be perfect, but oh well.
Hey there, welcome to trainboard! I have a pair of these mikes and love them. Looks like youve done some fine work there. Good luck and I wish you all the best with your kidney issues. Thank god for a hobby like hours to pass the time and keep our minds occupied.
