    =========================================

    NOTE:
    I don't need all of the variations of the truck stop shown below so I'm looking for anyone who might be interested in helping by printing them out. I don't like putting things up on my thingiverse.com account if they haven't been printed so probably will only put up what I've actually printed. If you are interested in printing out some of the other structures below so I can put them up also please contact me ( HERE ).

    Also please don't contact me if you are not going to print them out now as I don't have time to be sending files to people just so they can have them and will maybe use them someday. If you are in that group please wait for me to put them up on my thingiverse.com account. Thanks

    ========================================

    After the topic of are there any N scale truck stop kits out there on a forum I decided to design my own. My layout is Union Pacific from the late 40's to the early 70's. I designed something that might have been built in the 50's possible. I looked at truck stops in that time period ( some HERE ) and didn't find anything that I wanted to copy so the following is purely my thoughts on what I wanted and there might never been one anywhere close to it but it will work for me.

    As I'm writing this I'm printing parts for the truck maintenance building as one unit and the gas station, restaurant and hotel as a separate structure. I'll probably put the truck maintenance building offset a bit from the other structure possible with two sets of pumps. One for trucks the other for cars and smaller trucks.

    [IMG]

    Above and in the next image is the truck maintenance building where maintenance or repairs could be made on larger trucks along with smaller ones and possibly also automobiles. The two bays to the left have tall doors on both sides of the building so that a truck can be driven through. I have one door on each side partially open.

    [IMG]

    I picture this version of the building as being a separate building on a lot where there would also be multiple pumps, some for mainly trucks and the others for smaller trucks and autos. Some truck stops have a building similar to this set back a bit on the lot with another building to handle pump sales and possibly a restaurant where truckers and the general public can get a meal.

    [IMG]

    Above we have the maintenance building and a smaller attached building where you would pay for gas, oil and other small items and at the back of that building maybe an office for the maintenance building.

    [IMG]

    Now we see a restaurant added to the truck stop complex.

    [IMG]

    If we have a restaurant how about rooms above the restaurant that could be billed by the night or the hour?

    [IMG]

    Above is the rear view of the truck stop complex. Note that the front of the maintenance building, on the right above, and the other buildings have wood siding on the exterior walls. The maintenance building has cinder or concrete block wall for the side and back walls. Also the images are screen shots from Fusion 360 and the mortar joints are more pronounced in the images than they are in the 3D printed parts.

    ===========================================

    NOTE: Next up are buildings that could be used with the truck maintenance building and positioned offset from it or they could be used singularly on the layout as they are labeled or to represent other types of buildings.

    [IMG]

    You will be able to print the above building that could either represent a larger restaurant on the entire first floor or the first floor could consist of a gas station to the left and attached restaurant to the right with sleeping rooms above.

    [IMG]

    With a different roof and no upper floor you have the option for all restaurant or gas station and restaurant. Also the building could represent a different type business in a town or along a road.

    [IMG]

    Knock off the gas station to the left and you have two story building that could find a home at a location other than with the truck maintenance building.

    [IMG]

    Need just a restaurant or a building that could represent a different type business print out the building above.

    I'll have the buildings up on my thingiverse.com account as they are printed out and shown to be good prints either by me or hopefully others by contacting me as outlined at the top of this page.

    If you come into this thread later you can find the index menu with more info ( HERE ).

    To be continued.....

    Truck Stop Part 2:

    Below are images of what I've printed to this point. I'll try and get these print files up soon on my thingiverse.com account ( HERE ). Still looking for help on this. If interested see note in yellow above.

    [IMG]

    The truck maintenance building can stand alone or be attached to any combination of the buildings to the right of it. Also it can be turned around with the other side facing out.

    [IMG]

    You can see the stairs to the 2nd floor ( HERE ) and they were used in another design I did ( HERE ).

    I save cereal boxes and use them for templates mainly but decide to see how they might work for roof surfaces and like them. The one roof is pretty large and the cereal box cardboard seems to work fine even on it but might put some stiffeners on the bottom side of the roof if I go this way as I want to also add roof detail on the roof top.

    The print files for the roofs will also be available on thingiverse if you want to print them or cut them out of styrene or another material of your choice.

    [IMG]

    Print files for a couple versions of the White truck ( HERE ).

    [IMG]

    On the back side the bay with the door partially open is closed on this side and the other bay door is up some.

    [IMG]

    I'm not sure how I'm going to use these prints on my layout. Maybe together or maybe separated some like what you see at some truck stops where the maintenance/repair building sits back some on the lot.

    [IMG]

    Still looking for those of you that would help out and print some of the other variations of the structure on the right above. See the notice as the top of this page if you are interested.

    If you come into this thread later you can find the index menu with more info ( HERE ).
