Tekoa, Washington. Blocked off, not sure who, but probably Milwaukee. NP, GN, UP and MILW all had trackage in the area...only Washington and Idaho Railroad runs now, trackage all owned by WSDOT, surprisingly, as the state seems hellbent on getting rid of trains.
It is VERY surprising, the screwy things they are doing. The word "senseless" may have been created for this application. MILW bridge, under which UP used to operate. GN and NP were slightly further west. Been a few years since I've driven underneath that structure. I had planned on it last summer, but the "wife" wrecked that daydream.
Governments used to manage situations. Then they started to manage money, and ignore situations until they deteriorated into a crisis. Now they manage their image, and ignore money altogether (except to spend it like drunken sailors). Something must be, in their opinion, an advantage to their image to get rid of trains.
The major problem is as the years roll by, fewer and fewer of those "elected" or appointed have any business acumen. And their sole focus is perpetuating their employment. So appearance of accomplishments is everything. They've just finished removing a very well placed rail line in western Washington, which could have easily been used for commuter rail purposes. Transit being something about which they're always spewing forth hot air. That new hiking trail will eventually be replaced, after years of costly court battles by many assorted special interest groups. The price tag will be billions of (wasted) dollars to create yet another politician's personal glory monument.
