I noticed that too. I'm sure the "starter" was a steam nut like thee-n-me. Otherwise if he was an employee, I'm sure he would have revolted in short order. Apparently Trevithick hadn't yet realized the need for quartering the drivers. Both pistons were working in parallel......oops
I wondered about that. And also just how much power they could actually generate to overcome inertia.
