Just read on the Atlas site that the trainmaster distributor orders have closed.
Here is what Paul Graf from Atlas had too say

"The orders we have received have surpassed even my expectations, and the popularity ranks right up there with what we did on the N scale SD-60s."

Although I'm not interested in purchasing a trainmaster I believe it is important for N scale modellers as it just goes to prove N scale is increasing in popularity. Lets all just get behind these Manufacturers as this will only enhance our hobby. Wouldn't is be great if we could just walk into a hobby shop and have showcases full of rollingstock and locomotives for us N scalers to purchase. One more manufacturer like Athearn to take notice of N scale and this dream could come true.

I hope that Micro-Trains entering the picture as a loco mfg is a sign that n scale is finally getting the attention it deserves! Yes they are the master of limited runs but hopefully this will influence the likes of Model Power, Bachman and Life-like to up the ante! Competition is good and may push those modern locos a little closer to reality a little sooner. One can only hope!

The original posting on the MT FT's that i saw stated that the would not be a limited run item. We shall see. If true this could be a significant step in the N scale world.

I am a little suprised that the FTs will nto be limited run, and that the Train Masters are selling so much.

    Hmmm, strange world [IMG]

    Happy Railroading!

I think it is great that the popularity of the Trainmasters is so overwhelming, but I am truly surprized that it is anywhere near that of the SD60's... As far as an Athearn of N scale, I for one hope we don't see one. I remember those model when I was in HO 10 years ago and they left an awful lot to be desired. It would be nice to walk into any hobby shop and find the items you want, but the concept is entirely impractical, for many reaons. Plus, how many N scalers would really want unpainted UNPAINTED metal handrails to attach to thier locos? Not many, I'd guess...

I think it's a big step for Atlas to make, in that the real Trainmasters weren't as popular as the EMD and GE's were, and it seems like a gamble that paied off for Atlas, also opening the door for more unusual locomotives in the future.

Where is the post about M/T's EMC-FT's? [IMG] Are you sure they weren't talkng about Z scale? MT makes Z scale locos with Marklin chasies... I would like to see the article, I went to MT's home page and didn't see anything.

never mind, I found it [IMG] I agree, it was the camel that broke the straws back [IMG] for steam, and IS an important event in railroad history. Leave it to MT to be the first in mass prod.

This is where I read it first, someone else directed me here to read it. I also contacted George Menzie @ Micro-Trains and ask if it was for real, he said "Stay Tuned!"

Just remember folks, just because Atlas doesn't have any left to send to distributors doesn't mean it will sell well on the open market. Just food for thought...

Congrats to those who want them!
