I created a TrainBoard Group for The Milwaukee Road: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/group.php?groupid=20 Boxcab E50
Ken, I joined up ,hope it's OK. Do we have to have an album here on TrainBoard to put them in here? I tried loading one up from another site and it wouldn't take.
Certainly! We have some new features here at TrainBoard. A lot to learn, so I am far from an expert at this point. In the dark gray bar above this thread, you can click on either "My TrainBoard", or "Quick Links", and then look for "Photos & Albums". Post away! Boxcab E50
I joined too, since I'm a Milwaukee closet fan! I'm slowly collecting MILW stuff in Z-scale!:teeth: I tried posting though, and it says i'm not allowed to?
Kurt- You certainly are allowed to post. Hmmmm. Hope it's just a brief glitch. Let me know? Boxcab E50
I joined up a few weeks ago,and I like the group.I am seriously considering going into N Scale due to lack of space, and would have SD40-2's for road power and rebuilt MP15AC's for the yard and industrial switching and local freights. The MP15AC's would be built using the Atlas MP15DC as a starting point, the hardest part of the project would be decaling the number boards in the front and rear of the MP15AC since in N Scale the lettering is so small.
Anyone with any level of interest in the Milwaukee Road please be certain to check this out! Boxcab E50
Boxcab: Thanks for organizing this group. I just discovered it. Hope it attracts lots of fans of the Milwaukee Road. Mr. Boxcab knows me and my modeling, but for those of you who don't here's a brief report summary: I grew up along a MILW branch line in eastern Iowa. My dad used to work for the MILW at Marquette and the C&NW in Clinton. l'm a retired journalist after 50 years in the newspaper profession (it was a profession years ago; many papers of today have transformed profession into a new belief: money, not public service). I'm building a freelance N-scale layout with a MILW theme. Some day, if I have the space before I'm derailed permanently, I'd like to build a prototypical layout of the old Bellevue & Cascade narrow gauge railroad that served an area of northeast Iowa. Again, thanks for starting this group -- and let's jump in to keep it going.
Information needed! Hello All, I am new at this so be patient with me. I'd be looking for any and all info I can find on The Milwaukee Road's Beer Line. I have the MRHA's speciall edition book for a reference but is'nt showing enough details. Here is my background. Currently I am a conductor on the Wi & Southern RR and have been for the last 5 yrs., previously I was working for the Wi Central and then Canadian National for 13 yrs. For the last umteen years I have been trying to build a n-scale layout of Th e Milwaukee Road but couldn't come up with a design I liked. i have finally settle on a plan modeling the beer line and lines west of Milwaukee including my home town of Marshall. Lines will include the double main from Milw to Portage, Milw to Janesville, Janesville to Madison, Madison to Portage and Watertown. It should be huge and alot of fun!!. Now that I have started construction I am need of info on all of the above, first off the beer line. All of my old photos were mistakingly thrown away and so I am seeking help from fellow Milw Rd followers. Thanks and if I can return the favor please let me know! Best Regards and Keep The Milw Alive!!!
Beyond that specific book, and a few in other books, I cannot think of much. There was an article in a Kalmbach "how to" type book named "More Railroads You Can Model". I got my copy of that issue 30 years ago. But I'd bet you can still find one. BTW- That publication was edited by Mike Schafer, who also edits the MRHA quarterly ("TMR") magazine. Perhaps if you could catch him, he might be able to provide a few more leads? Try via www.mrha.com Boxcab E50
OK, I'm in....will have a few pics posted as soon as I get my computer running, (I'm using dad's laptop for now)
It doesn't take much, sometimes one lone photo, to trigger a flood of returning memories. :tb-cool: Boxcab E50
