The recent demise of The Whistle Post, another model railroad forum, due to the sudden and tragic death of its founder and admin, Kevin Moore, got me thinking about what could happen with TrainBoard, which has a much larger membership and audience. I would hate to see the wealth of resources that have accumulated here be lost. So, to bring up a very uncomfortable subject (and since part of my real job is disaster/contingency planning), are there contingency plans, if any, for maintaining the site? Has this been thought about / discussed?
This is a very good question. Not sure what the membership was for that site, but here there are currently well over 31,000 actively registered members here.
I'll trade you my Illinois for your Maine Charlie, at least you would be three hours from the Cards and I would be back in Red Sox territory. Even after almost 20 years, the flatness of Illinois is boring....
Succession planning is always tough. There's an envelope in my top desk drawer labeled "open if I'm dead" for my wife... God help me if anyone else ever gets it: everything is in there. That's the tough part: to do it right, you gotta trust someone with 'the keys to the kingdom,'.
