I was just watching the Weather Channel and there is a report of a train car over turned by a tornado down in Texas. Below is a link I have had for a couple years of an "Action Shot" of a tornado knocking over a couple covered hopper cars. Notice the tank car. That happened up about 15 mins from where I used to live.. (Even God doesn't like that UP took over the CNW) :tb-biggrin:
Photos I use to have some after clean up photo links but cannot find them right now. Some of the derailed cars where on a bridge. Rich
Saw this on the local news last night. It was all just east of Dallas but it was some pretty fierce storms. Saw video of a couple of autoracks that crushed an adjacent little league field fence/backstop and light poles. (not video of the event, but of the aftermath)
CNN News online reports that 11 cars were overturned in Rice, TX last evening. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/25/texas.weather/index.html?hpt=T2
Yeah, I saw some video of the storm and just recently saw a tipped car rack. I recall a tornado overturned oil tender in the news at the tourist railroad some years ago a little north of Austin. The tender had some oil and water still inside as I recall. That railroad had a nice steam tour back in 1995 when I visited from NE. Rich
Rice is about 30-40 miles south of Dallas on I-45. The cars were probably on the ex-SP now UP that runs south out of Ennis.
Awesome video; nature is a powerful thing, and definitely beyond our control. Thanks for sharing @Hytec, that was some amazing footage; to see the Cows being tossed around as if they were toys.
