Had a nice show today, not really a giant show, but it was a lot of fun. Good turnout, plenty of vendors [with a decent amount of N scale] and several good layouts there. The Lego train layout was a huge hit with the kids and grownups [yours truly included].
There's nothing inherently wrong with smaller shows... I often find them more enjoyable than some of the larger shows I've been to. True, sometimes I find nothing worth buying, but I often find something that makes it worth the trip.
Looks like it was a fun show to attend. I have a show in my neck of the woods coming up this Saturday.
My 71 year old knees managed to make it through three days at the National Train Show of walking around the convention hall shopping, looking at layouts and around the NTRAK layout following my trains. And then having to hike back to my hotel room on the other side of the convention center. Glad I brought plenty of ibuprofen, my legs were aching. Here is a G scale setup in the atrium of the hotel.
Nice photos and modules!!! Wish I coulda been there... Was TCS at the train show? I saw a show floorplan with vendor names on various booths, but did not see TCS on any of them. They have partnered with Bachmann at some other shows (from videos I've seen), so they may have shared Bachmann's (fairly large) booth. I was hoping to get a look at TCS' new DCC command station. I'm local, so I would have had to park in the garage on the opposite end of the complex (the other side of the hotel) from the show, and walk both ways, in addition to the walking and browsing at the show itself. But my knee is much better now, so at least that's good.
I did not check out the Bachmann booth and did not see TCS anywhere else. I didn't see Digitrax there either. I only checked out a few manufacturer booths. Lowell Smith who is doing specialized N scale passenger cars, Micromart, Peco and Kato. I spent most time browsing the dealers. Peco had some samples of a new N scale code 55 track and turnouts that have North American tie size and spacing that looked real good. It uses the same double flanged rail that is really code 80 but the bottom flange is buried in the ties showing only the top code 55. They had four new products in various scales that they are considering producing and we got to vote on which one we would like. Of course all the N scale guys are voting for the new N scale track.
Wow, I had my few milliseconds of fame on Dallas TV when I was briefly on screen during the coverage of the train show. I am the one strangling the antenna on the wireless throttle while waiting for my train to come by.
Found a video that someone posted on youtube showing their train cruising through my modules at the National Train Show. My modules begin at about 14:34 time stamp. The sound track gets to be a little annoying so turn down the volume.
