    Matt-

What about a regional or short line? Would keep you closer to home....

I was thinking about this earlier tonight....first road that came to mind was the TCW and then Minnesota Comercial. I know that neither are hiring (that's ok....I am looking at doing this in about ten years) [IMG] . Maybe it would be prudent to talk to them first and see the ins and outs per say. Basicly I am looking for a job / career that I will enjoy once I retire from the Army. The job does not have to pay a whole heck of allot as I will be drawing retirement from the Army. I am planning on working until I am about 60 to 65. I guess we will have to see how things are then [IMG]

    Matt-

Please keep used posted on how you go through this process. Between now, and to when you're ready to start making applications. Then when you do try, what it's like to go through it all. Could be really interesting!

I worked for the CNW for ten years starting in 1979. Back then the railroad was like an extension of college you pretty much partied all the time and guys you worked with were like a fraternity. It was fun when I was 20 something, no family, etc. But that lifestyle gone all the time always on call makes relationships impossible and I saw allot of divorces which fueled allot more drinking and drug use.

Loved the people I worked with and see many of them even though I have been out of it almost 20 years, the people I worked for were schnooks but real nice guys compared to what O hear about RR managers these days. [IMG]
