Here's some cam links to the Illinois RR museum. It's about an hours drive away for me, go there every year at least once. During the winter very little movement. http://www.irm.org/cam/cam5.html http://www.irm.org/cam/cam2.html George H
George- I'm going to keep these bookmarked for the Springtime! I see you have Milw avatar. Nice to have yet another Milw fan aboard! Boxcab E50
BoxcabE50 I failed to include the museum site so here it is' http://www.irm.org/ Also upon opening the cam site you can change the size of the window by clicking on the LG in the upper right. George H
Hi George- I prowl through the IRM web site every few months. Had no idea there were cameras. Am looking forward to seeing some Spring action! Can you get them to run some Milwaukee Road stuff? Boxcab E50
Boxcab E50 They do have some Milw Rd stuff, some f units and a fairbanks morse unit also a dynamometer car, # 5000? I think, may be wrong, caboose- bay window type and Milw # 265 unfortunately it is not in running order. The caboose was finished last year and looks good. There are also some frieght cars. George H
Kalmbach had a video. Where is my copy. Can't think of it's name. Believe it was titled something about first generation diesels. Anyhow, there is an IRM Milw F unit shown. The thing I remember most about this VHS, is hearing an excellent soundtrack of the 567 engine inside. Sounds great! Boxcab E50
I've got a few hours of tape shot over the last few years of various equipment but have no way to get it into the confuser . George H
Bummer! Would be fun to see that video footage! This seems like a project IRM could take on. A video showing all the varied activities during an operating season. Restoration work. Equipment in action. Displays. Or has this already been done? Boxcab E50
I was there over the summer for Diesel Days and took this photo... http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=72586 I'll probably be visiting again this summer. We're planning an outing to the museum with a few hours afterward in Rochelle for the SCWD Youth Group up here in Madison.
That dynamometer car looks a little rough. Sure hope it's weather tight. Is it stored under any cover? Maybe one of you fellows will know- There was some restoration work going on a couple of years ago, on both a Milw E unit, and a U boat. Any hints about these projects? Boxcab E50
Boxcab E50 Last year the dyno car was left outside as I tried to get inside it but the doors were locked or had a lock on them. I could see inside that the equipment was still there but they also stored other rr stuff in there as well. I don't know about the E unit or the U boat but I do remember they had an F unit with the left side removed and the gen, engine, steam heater were all exposed, I didn't take a pic as it would have made a good subject for a static model, and I could have gotten all the neccessary dimensions.
