Hello Friends What experience you have with traction tires? I've a F59PHI with traction tires from Oliver Passmann (www.passmann.com). This beast can pull more the 50 Gunderson Stackcars and more then 70 Penzee Hoppers with load from Haybros. I want to modify more of my Geeps with traction tires because it's a cheap way to improve the power.
Well, I have just completed some testing of a loco with traction tires on 2 of the 8 drivers, and am very pleased with it's performance. I was able to run that loco up a 30% grade, and when I removed track power the loco started to roll backwards, but re-applying power and the loco drivers grabbed and the loco continued back up the grade! I pulled lots of heavy cars with extra drag with ease, but my test track only holds about 35 cars and the loco was touching both the first and the last car. After this, I am very excited about traction tires, and I want to find someone who can put them on my MTL GP-35's now. I am all for traction tires!
My only experience with them is in N scale, and my only concern would be replacements if one were to break.
I want to have traction tires on my gg-1. I tried to apply them myselfe, but it did not fit.. :-( I`ll think i will send my wheels down to the guy hwo builds wonderful modules in german, and has a site where he sells z scale stuff ( as you figured i forgot his name )
