Hi all, I made a video on how I paint flex track.
Graff, thank you for posting the video. The only thing I question is I always heard that you should never use sandpaper to clean tracks because it leaves small scratches that will collect dirt. I wipe the tracks with 90% alcohol after painting and then use a small piece of Masonite to burnish tracks. Just a suggestion.
I gleam the tracks when they're ballasted and weathered.
Start with 2000 grit sandpaper and then rub a stainless steel washer on the rails.
I finish by using Flitz metal polish.
The rails I have done it on before are more or less maintenance free.
Nice, thanks for posting. I’ve always started weathering my track by spraying a rattle can of Camo Brown, but I think I’ll try this method next time.
that's fine for the track, but it doesn't do the ties, especally if you want a weathered whitish wash .. maybe okay for new installs where the track [and ties] are not really weathered yet ??
