While visiting the Overland Models website this morning http://www.overlandmodels.com/ I came across the announcement for their new venture into plastic! It is called "Tower 55" and if it's anything like their brass, I'm sure it will raise the bar on quality and detail of model railroad products. http://www.tower55products.com/ So I decided to send off a quick message to info@overlandmodels.com Asking about the possible future of the line in "N-scale". I promptly received a friendly response from Brian T. Marsh, President of OMI and Tower 55 Products, a Division of OMI which said; Quote: Plan to move in the N scale direction after the company releases the first group of HO models. The venture is quite costly and we have only so many resources. The copy only indicates HO since it is our initial focus. Will definitely work towards N scale in the future. I certainly appreciate your interest and would like to know which models may be of interest to you. So, not to start another "What would you like to see released" thread, but instead a serious informational message to OMI, what would you like to see them do? I'm in for the U18B. This can only be great news for us in "N-scale"! I look forward to their first N-scale announcement... whenever it may be. [ May 25, 2005, 12:02 PM: Message edited by: Rich in NH ]
Quite some time ago Charlie Vlk mentioned new developments in modelling, due to runs with smaller series. I am sure he meant the new models coming from PCM, and Tower55 seems to be the response. My hope is that not only modern engines come this way, but also older models, especially steamers. Probably should start saving for steamers Christoph
That's all BIG power, and even the three unit gas turbine is too modern to suit me. N scale needs a good Ten-Wheeler, a good 0-6-0 switcher, a good Atlantic, and perhaps even a Twelve-Wheeler (N&W 475 at Strasburg won a recent poll of most popular currently operating steam). Viva vapor.
It all depends on the quality of the drive mechanism. N brass is known for excellent detail, but poor to horrible mechanical performance. Now, if they could get their machining up to Kato standards, that would be something! Tony Burzio San Diego, CA
I want DD 40s and 3 unit gas turbines, (not that I'll be able to afford them or have a place to run them.
That is a really interesting development ..... I am not sure what it means overall for the N Scale community (other than sub-brass prices and better availability) Veeererry interesting. Harold
