On my way back home to Oregon after attending Canyon Rails, I decided to stop at Yreka and show Ironhorseman my newest railfan tee shirt. Imagine my surprise when I pulled into the Yreka Western yard and saw # 19 steamed up. Bill invited me aboard as he switched a caboose off a siding and coupled up to the excursion train. It was great! A fitting end to a very eventful trip. Once I get the pix done I'll post a bunch, including Bill doing his job running YW # 19. Thanks, Bill, for a great experience.
Maybe we could set up a "meet" here for sometime next year!!! ?? I could get a special deal for a group of TrainBoard members However, I will have to insist that someone stop by and pick up Barbara on the way out here.
For you members and guests who have never met Bill, here he is at work on the YW. And, Thank you again Bill for the cab ride.
Love the photos Fitz of the YW....I have always liked the power down there when I lived in Medford, Oregon...many trips and miles and time between Yreka and Dunsmuir....and catching the Ironhorseman at work always adds value to the whole trip Glad you are home safe and look forward to all of your photos for your expedition...
Michael, I put these on TO, and Photobob posted a shot he took 40 years ago that looks the same, like time stood still. Go have a look.
