In the past, some members have expressed interest in the Tomix "Rapit" model. Today, I noticed they are back in stock at Hobby Search. It does look like something out of Jules Verne, doesn't it?

Perhaps they'll make the version that was painted red:

Very nice! It always triggers me to build a small Japanese layout. But new Dutch equipment triggers me to build something Dutch again.... So many possibilities, so many choices.........

I picked up one of these sets from Hobby Search a few months ago. I haven't had a chance to run it yet, but it looks great.

You got to hand it to the Japanese in that they do have a great railway system and some interesting and attractive rolling stock and power. I briefly flirted with the idea of trying to find some small diesels around the size of the 44 or 70 tonner and Americanize them for my little free lance short line. A number of videos I watched of layouts over there I was impressed by the running quality.
