Grabbing lunch, when I heard a train horn somewhere in town! Had time, so I headed north, with time to spare! Got this at the crossing at Highland today. Shot from the warmth and safety Inside my truck! Moving at decent clip by this time. Was about 20 degrees and blowing snow!
I’d be happy if it were in the 50’s personally!! Not really to fond of winter! Might have to get the G Scale plow out again! Spend part of an upcoming day, freezing a bit, and playing trains!
Holy smokes -- I can't begin to imagine. Are you able to garage your vehicle? Thank goodness for synthetic oils.
My vehicle is under cover, but it is open. We eventually hit fifteen below. Now up to six below. Nothing unusual here, just normal winter. Tonight is forecast to be only minus nine. Supposedly we will reach seventeen above this afternoon. Railroad-wise, this is bad news. Such cold is real rail breaker weather. So many, many cars out there with flat spots, which never are removed from service and repaired, banging their way across the mountains. A derailment is all too possible. BNSF, MRL.....
Trains in the snow really make for great scenes. I like the winter weather but the rest of the family is not a fan of the cold. Bad part is winter is in full swing here in the Atlanta area. Today's mid February high will only be 65 degrees warmer that the high at Boxcab's house today
Neat catch. I suppose this is the Laurel-Denver manifest? The scale test car was a neat catch--except for the train crew who is stuck going no more than 30-35mph.....
Hopefully speed restrictions are in place. Cheaper to go slower, than to clean up potential messes....
