    Bob,
This has GOT to be a rarity--I dunno about NG, but that tank itself must be quite old. I have never seen one of those before!
    Grande catch!!:)

Is Helium still shipped by rail? In these cars or no?

I've seen cars like this up around Amarillo, where helium wells used to be.

The helium cars have all been retired. It is moved by truck now.

You want a tank, I got a tank.......

This four-truck monster hauls ethylene glycol (the stuff found in antifreeze). There were three of these in this CSX freight, and I got pics of two of 'em. If you'll notice, the couplers are mounted to the same bolster at each end that connects the trucks to a pivot point on the tank body.

Let's see IM or Kato come out with THIS!! :D :D :D

I saw some larger ADMs like that in Selma, NC about three weeks ago. They were so new that you could smell the paint! Wonder if ADM is getting a bunch of new ones?

Where did the oil go, after Dolores? Or was there a refinery?

Strange looking cars. Odd domes. Must have been built by a RR home shop?

Surely that is this tank's origin. However, it rains in Oregon. And when the sun comes out, some wet things tend to shrink... :tb-tongue:

Anyone have a photo showing the old three dome style? Like we had when kids, in our Lionel train sets...

The refinery is right there at the Dolores Yard less than one mile towards the harbor. I don't think the tank train even stopped at the yard; it just went through it into the refinery receiving tracks. The refinery was very large. In fact, it is across Alameda Blvd. from the ICTF facility. If you can google earth, it should be easy to see ICTF, Dolores Yard, and the refinery together.
