This may be a silly question but what is Time Saver? I then may be able to help.

Here is a link to an N scale Time Saver:

You have to scroll down about half way. This one looks like it is 6 inches by 3 feet.

    Here is another:

Kato has a track plan for a double time saver with Unitrack. I can't find it on line at the moment. Anyone know where it is?

John Allen came up with the plan ages ago. It is not meant to operate in a realistic way but to operate as a puzzle. The key to the puzzle is to build it in such a way that you can only fit so many cars in each siding. The length of the sidings should be based upon the length of the cars you use. Your switcher and all the cars should all be about the same length.

From what I see, I would make it no less than 4ft long by 18inches wide and use #4 switches for small freight cars and a switching loco.

Don't forget you can build the time saver into a larger layout. We have a 2 by 8 1/2 foot layout with it built into the "yard" area.
