I bought a few time books at an antique store that a guy who worked for the B&O through the 60's and 70's and wrote his earnings, work hours, etc in. Here is a line:

ROT by: W.S.SMITH Last Half: April 1956
    ----------------------------------------------------------
Went on Duty | Went Off Duty| Straight Time|
    Date | Train No. | # | Place | time | Place | time | R or P | yard | local |
    21 | Ext | 6539 | 1124 |12:05a | 1124 | 9:55a |----8-----|-------|-------|

    Overtime | Miles | Earning | Engineer or Fireman|
    ---$1.50--|--134-|-$27.49-| Miller (good chance my dad's great-uncle)

Interpretation: On the April 21 1956 W.S. Smith went on duty at 12:05 in the morning on B&O #6539 at Mile Post 1124 he worked 9 hours and 50 minutes, was paid a dollar and a half for overtime and 27 dollars and 49 cents for a day's work. He covered 134 miles and the Engineer was likely my dad's great uncle, Durwood Miller.

A&A, thats a good peice of history you've got their!!!! I'd be sure to hold onto it. I have a few things like that from my grandpa!!!! Worth more then any money itself! Some of mine is like a log book for the B&O's engineers, which my grandpa was..... I got logs of the EM-1's and Big Sixes "2-10-2's" :D and a few Q-4's 2-8-2's.... So I know about what you have their....

all of the trains in the books I got were from 1956 to 1976, all in the 49XX series to 64XX-68XX series, yet to determine what locomotives they are, I'm guessing GP7's and GP9's

Its very possible for them to also be SD-7's and SD-9's.... And even the Fairbanks-Morse diesels as well. All depends on the year and the numbers on the loco... I'll see what I can find and post it here.... :D

    A&A,
I found some on those numbers, sadly the 64xx series is GP-9's, The 49xx series does not exist in the roster. And the 68xx series also does not exist in the roster! I'd check the writting again to make sure you read it right, being that the 68xx series coulda been the 69xx series which would have been GP-30's. As for the 49xx series, I don't know what that might have been close too... The B&O has no history of 68xx series numbers nor 49xx series numbers. Not even in steam! I know the 68xx series wasn't steam for the fact of them being class "s", "S-1", or "S-1a" Sig Sixes (2-10-2's) as for the 49xx series numbers if they had numbers that high in steam they would have been class "Q-4" or something close... But niether of the 49xx series or 68xx series are registered in the diesel roster...
