Last update before the Christmas season. And over a year late for this one. Sorry!

I took a trip out to the Wainwright Subdivision last September and I was lucky enough to get photos of the hotel in Landis Saskatchewan just days before it was pulled down. It was just the building I needed in a far corner of the layout.

So there's something a little different in the What's New pages.

See Winter Valley Regional Railroad - What's New

I hope you can get some ideas from this project. Not so much with respect to building techniques of course. Those are pretty much determined by the scale you use. Rather I'm suggesting we should buy far less 'out of the box' buildings and just build our own. No one wants to see his own layout all over someone else's railroad and what better way to establish your own time and place.

    Enjoy

    Hi MIke

That's 14 inches high (about 33 ft) and 33 inches wide (nearly 80 ft) so it takes up all the space I have in the corner. There was nothing else I could do there. No industry and not even a spur serving a building flat. More importantly, this offers a 'one of a kind' building.

I have a friend who models the NAR in HO scale and he follows the same philosophy. All buildings on his 1200 sq ft layout are custom made and patterned after the real structures at the modeled location. I know it's not large scale but you can see the effect at Northern Alberta Railway - Dunvegan to Dawson
