    Hello all,

Just a very quick update on the old NP depot in Ellensburg WA. For ten years Historic Ellensburg has been trying (fighting) to acquire the old Northern Pacific Depot. Halted by tons of legal battles including debates over insurance liabilities (BNSF still owns the land the building sits on, meaning it has to be leased) and also battles with the current owner (not BNSF), Historic Ellensburg is coming very close to getting the depot. I been told that there are only last few final touches and the legal documents and soon they will have a huge restoration project on there hands.

I should be getting more info on it as time comes and will post any news here.

Here is a pic I took of the depot this last summer. As you can see it is nasty shape.

A little early: if you have an interest in helping restore this depot and would like to help in some other way please let me know by either posting here or by sending me a pm. Most people don't realize how much help they can be. Sometimes by just informing us of some info it gives us a place to go search for more. I am not aware as to what help we need but I will know soon. Just let me know if your interested and how you may be able to help.

I hope this happens soon! They have a piece of precious history, slowly going to ruin.

Get someone who can consult with the Milw Cle Elum (CRF/FSCED) group. Those guys could be a gold mine of ideas.

I was thinking the same thing Ken. In fact I believe this was discussed at one of the Heritage Center meetings. Some of the members there are also members in the Historic Ellensburg group. However, I also rember hearing talk that they might be busy with the second part of the South Cle Elum site, the substation. I believe this was there next project. Either way I'll be sure to bring this up.
