Hello Everyone, Just wanted to share that my article on updating IM SD40T-2 Tunnel Motors has been published in the Jan issue of Railroad Model Craftsman for those who might be interested. Thank you, Don
Looks great, how did you keep the frame from rotting away underneath the shell? That has been my nemesis with IM locomotives.....
Thank you David! I did have one of these that had the zinc rot frame, there is no fix as you know so I contacted IM regarding a replacement. I just have to wait until the next run as they are out of parts for these models right now. Rest assured that if you contact them, they will make it right with you! Don
Looks great! My IM Tunnel Motor shell cracks when I look at it the wrong way. Does your article address how to remedy that?
That's a good looking loco, Don! I'll have to track down the article and see if I can't make some improvements to my old Tunnel Motors. Although this thread is making me feel lucky to even still have them; the worst problem mine have are handrails that come loose if you even think about them too hard.
In the article I attempted to address every issue that most of us experienced. I think you will find it helpful! Thanks, Don
