I got Photos!!!! Here are just a couple until I get all the info put together for the others.

My heroes of Kittitas County! hahaha
From left to Right: Edward Emanuel, Myself, and Gene Lawson. Gene had a bunch of stories to tell. One included telling his crew to brace for impact as he came around the curve just west of Renslow. Ahead of him was a herd of cows and there was nothing he could do. So he went through them. He said he had a little trouble seeing but nevertheless kept moving until Cle Elum and crew change. However, there was some many pieces of cow on the front of his SD40-2 that the kept the front door from opening. Plus a lot of it had just been horribly soiled due to the immense heat that day. Apparently a couple of the guys waiting at Cle Elum when his train arrived nearly threw up. Great Story!!! haha
Sorry the picture was taken a little fuzzy.

Next a photo of the Columbia River Bridge being built. Top photo is taken from the west side of the bridge. Notice they must have filled in the wooden trestle area on this side with dirt sometime after as this wooden trestle does not exist. Bottom photo taken from the east side.

More pictures to come, including some of a wreck just east of Doris! The boxcabs in this wreck apparently did not survive.

more to come soon. I need to get them resized. Give me a few hours so I cn get some other things done. hahaha

Sorry the pics are a little fuzzy, but some were in locked glass cases and made taking pics a little hard. some were shielded behind gloss transparent plastic paper found in most photo albums.

Looks like it might have been near the Heartbreak Curves area? Any date known?

Neat pictures of the T-1 at work!

Am curious as to background on the wreck. We can look up info in ICC files. See when those boxcabs were scrapped, etc.

    :eek:mg:

Ya, let us know for sure the date! My dad was the District General Car Forman at Tacoma from 1964 thru 1969, and this was in his territory. He may have been there for the cleanup!

I spoke with Dale Porter on the phone and he is going to send me copies of his photos. Maybe I'll get a better scan of them this way.

Ken, He ensured me that this wreck was at the west switch of Doris. He said the runaways came from Boylston hill. He was a little unsure of the date (honestly really cant remember, I've run into this a lot with some of the guys that used to work for the milw, everyone's getting old...) and he gave me another source to get in touch with. I am going to speak with this fellow tomorrow and see what he can find out.

    stay tuned!
