I recently received the following email message from Jim Shaughnessy (Author of Delaware and Hudson) on this topic.
quote:
The 177 year continuously operated transportation co. in America record ended on Dec.1,2000 when CP obtained permission from NY & PA to operate as Canadian Pacific Ry. and the D&H name disappeared as a separate entity, now called the Northeast US service area.

Contrary to this from CPR's Eastern Netwrok Employee Magazine "Horizons"
quote:
The decision to legally amalgamate the two railways in Canada does not affect the Delaware & Hudson Railway, which remains a seperate corporations, managed as part of the Eastern Network.

What this means I will leave to the historians of the future; but, I will keep the D&H Flag flying high on the DHVM and won't take it down without a fight.
Darren, this was discussed some time ago, and the reports continue to be conflicting, unfortunately. Maybe Big Al will let us know what they think (he'll still call it the D&H of course, as will I). Board looks good too, but I think the blue is just a tad on the light side, maybe need something a little darker. Also, did you get the images I sent you?
I thought I would bring up the topic again just since Jim sent me his take this week. If I get the time, I will try to contact CP directly. They were helpful with the D&H tender issue so I'm sure they will give me the straight story about this as well. As for the images, so far they are a no show.
Our employee timetable still requires radio communications to identify us as D&H Train # xxx.... My paycheck says Canadian Pacific Railway by the SOO LINE railroad as Agent for the Delaware & Hudson Railway. I still work for and am paid by the D&H. If I could just get the stationmaster on night shift at Rennselaer to answer me when I call as D&H 274. He won't answer unless I say CP or add CP Engine # xxxx. Some people just don't understand!
