I would like to take a minite to thank all of you on TrainBoard, specficly the N scale group for making my times here fun. As a couple of you know I joined the United States Marine Corp earlier this year and on Sunday night I ship off to boot camp. It will be a long tough 13 weeks for me but when I complete it in December I will be a new person. God Bless all of you and enjoy your trains. Kevin D Mumaw P.S. Just for fun hear is my roster frozen for the next 13 weeks. Kevin, On behalf of all the moderators and fellow members of Trainboard, good luck in your future. The timing is tough (what with the WTC bombing and all), but it's gonna take rough men with guns to do the dirty work called for. Get through basic training, boot- we'll be here when you get back!
Good luck in boot camp. Remember when they are yelling and screaming at you, don't take it personally. The highest General's were once yelled at for sloppy boots, poorly pressed gear, poorly made beds, and not being able to keep up. You will have become part of a team and in these times, that is very important.
Kevin, good luck and take care, when you can be sure to drop by and let us know you are ok. God bless you in these dark times
GO GET'EM BOOT!! You speak true when you say you'll come out a new man. Remember you'll get there at 0200, be sure to sleep Sat nite. When you come out the term of being a 'DOG' we'll swell you with pride. Just be sure to pick an M.O.S. You don't want to be slapped just anywhere. My Father is a Marine, his service and friends are as close as I could get. Heart Disease, bummer. GOOD LUCK! Teamwork!! Marine's Kid; Ken 'Sir Prize' Travis II
Already picked my M.O.S., FDC (Fire Direction Control). Basicly I will be one of the people figuring out the weather conditiions, locartion on the earth, and anything else that can effect artilery fire and placement of rounds. Kevin
Kevin: Hope you hear this, just a note from an old drill: When he's in your face calling you everything under the sun, it's not personal; bear down, do what you're told and keep your eyes on the goal. After 16 1/2 years, I can still say it's worth it.
Kevin, It has been really fun talking with you for the last year and a half, kinda funny how time flys. Good luck and stay in touch buddy!
Kevin, you have picked a good MOS. It will get you promoted faster than you think! A tip: do not let an opportunity to go to any school pass you by. The more schooling you have the faster you will climb the ladder. Have fun in Fort Sill, Oklahoma (I do believe that is where you will be trained...I was there for my training as well many moons ago ) SFC Fernandez US ARMY, FA->KING OF BATTLE
